Embodiment Construction

[0045] Examples of various positioning and adjustment functions are described below. However, as will be apparent to those skilled in the art, other embodiments of placing the AIOL in the ciliary sulcus of the eye and any AIOL, including post-implantation adjustments of the AIOL, are included in the appended claims.

[0046] Example of ciliary sulcus localization

[0047] The preferred embodiment (Figs. 2, 3) for positioning the AIOL described in the figures in the ciliary sulcus has a flange 13 protruding from the base plate of the front element of the AIOL. The flange has an appropriate width to ensure a good fit with the ciliary sulcus, and an appropriate length to ensure that the ciliary body contacts the edge 14 of the main part of the AIOL. In the accommodated state of the ciliary body (Fig. 3), and to a certain extent, the ciliary sulcus will move the optics in the AIOL to a higher optical power than in the relaxed state (Fig. 2).

Abstract

The invention relates to an accommodating intraocular artificial lens withvariable optical power, comprising two optical elements which are adapted to mutually shift in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis wherein the optical elements have such a shape that theyexhibit, in combination, different optical powers at different relative positions. Flanges are adapted to position the anterior section of the haptics in the sulcus ofthe eye, or, alternatively, the ciliarybodyis enclosed by a combination of anterior and posterior flanges. In addition, a number of methods are described to provide for an accommodating intraocular lens which is adjustable post-implant to ensure emmetropia ofthe eye.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the positioning and adjustment of an adjustable intraocular lens in the eyeball. or bonded together), wherein said optical elements have shapes that have different optical powers by being bonded together at different relative positions. Background technique [0002] In this document, the following abbreviations will be used: "IOL": Intraocular lens, an intraocular lens implanted in the eye by an ophthalmologist, including monofocal lenses, multifocal lenses, crystalline lenses, and Crystal lenses, and adjusting intraocular lenses. "MIOL": is the abbreviation of monofocal intraocular lens IOL, which is a traditional single focal length IOL. "AIOL": Accommodative intraocular lens, the eyeball can adjust its diopter through the ciliary muscle according to the driving of the natural focusing body so that the eyes can see things clearly. "AAIOL": An adjustable accommodating intraocular lens, the base power of which can be...
