Abstract

The invention provides an interactive set top box (STB) based implementation method of an embedded streaming media play module. The method comprises a data receiving flow as well as a decoding and playing flow. The method is characterized in that in the data receiving flow, HTTP (Hyper Text Transport Protocol) / TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is used for exchanging control information between a browser of a client STB and a server of a television center, and real-time data to be transmitted is retrieved from an original information center; a real-time streaming protocol (RTSP) is run through an audio / video control program and a sound / video server of a television center so as to exchange relative parameter information required by a sound / video control program to initialize the audio / video control program and finish receiving real-time data; and then the received data is played through decoding. In the invention, the STB can be used for receiving the real-time data, and users do not need to begin to play after all content are downloaded to a hard disk and only need to wait for some time, thereby the users are greatly facilitated, and the buffer size of the STB system is reduced.
