Abstract

The present disclosure relates to estimating service resource consumption based on response time. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a computer-implemented method comprising: defining a workload that includes a plurality of service requests, each service request corresponding to one of a plurality of categories; and applying the workload to a computer that receives and processes the service request. A system; measuring a computer system's response time for each request for a workload; estimating an average service demand for each category based on the response time and a basic queuing model representative of the computer system; and, generating a queuing model based on the average service demand and characteristics of the workload. .
