Abstract

The invention provides a network element interworking method and an AAA (authentication, authorization and accounting) server. The method comprises the following steps: the AAA server receives and processes a message from a first network element group, wherein, the first network element group is positioned at one side of the AAA server; when the AAA server determines that a protocol type supported by the received message is inconsistent with that supported by a second network element group, the AAA server converts the processed message into a message with a format of the protocol type supported by the second network element group, wherein, the second network element group is positioned at the other side of the AAA server; and the AAA server processes the converted message and sends the processed message to the second network element group. By adopting the technical proposal in the invention, the problem that different network elements at two sides of the AAA server can not be interconnected based on different protocols in the related art is solved, thus achieving the purpose of interconnection between different network elements at the two sides of the AAA server based on different protocols.
