Embodiment Construction

[0025] figure 1 Shown is an imaging system 20 with AF functionality. For example, the imaging system 20 is a handheld device capable of capturing images, such as a camera phone (mobile phone) or a digital camera, or a camera module in the device. The lens 22 is moved by an AF actuator 24 . For example, the AF actuator 24 is a VCM. Lens 22 forms an image on image sensor 26 . Image sensor 26 provides an electrical representation of the image formed by lens 22 and outputs an electrical signal 28 representative of the detected image. The electrical signal 28 is received by a processor 30, for example an image signal processor (ISP) or a digital signal processor (DSP) (digital signal processor). Under the control of software or firmware stored in memory (not shown), processor 30 processes electrical signal 28 and outputs AF control signal 32 . AF control signal 32 is received by AF actuator 24 . AF actuator 24 moves lens 22 in response to control signal 32 . This operation i...

Abstract

The invention discloses a method for automatically capturing focusing images by utilizing an imaging system. The imaging system comprises a lens which is located by an actuator, and the actuator is controlled by a driving current and has a start current value. The method comprises the following steps of: moving a lens in the imaging system by a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) or AFL (Automatic Focusing Linear)-motor actuator; detecting an image formed by the lens in a certain position; calculating the focusing value of the detected image; capturing an image at a peak focusing value if the peak focusing value is found; and moving the lens into a new position by the actuator if the peak focusing value is not found. The method provided by the invention does not need to correct the actuator or measure the start current of the VCM or AFL actuator.

Description

Background technique [0001] In camera phones (mobile phones), digital cameras and other popular handheld devices, an auto focusing (AF) function is usually required and implemented. The AF function helps camera users to capture clear and clear images of subjects at close or long distances. Currently, camera modules equipped with an AF function are mainly installed in cameras, camcorders, and mid-to-high-end mobile phones. [0002] In order to correctly focus on the target or obtain a clear and sharp focused image, the image distance to the lens and the target distance to the lens should satisfy the well-known lens equation 1 / f=1 / o+1 / i, where f is the focal length of the lens, o is the target distance to the lens and i is the image distance to the lens. The AF function is achieved by moving one or more elements of the lens to satisfy the lens equation. Usually, the lens is driven forward or backward by an actuator (also known as an actuator) such as a voice coil motor (VCM)....
