Abstract

The invention discloses a driver for driving a backlight module and a driving method. The backlight module comprises a plurality of light-emitting diode (LED) bunches. The driver comprises a random frequency multiplexer, a pulse width modulating controller and a switch control circuit. The random frequency multiplexer receives one or more pulse width modulating signals and correspondingly outputs plural random frequency signals. The pulse width modulating dimming controller which is electrically coupled to the random frequency multiplexer receives the random frequency signals and correspondingly outputs plural driving signals so as to respectively drive each LED bunch. The switch control circuit which is electrically coupled to the random frequency multiplexer is used for receiving random frequency signals and correspondingly outputs plural switch control signals to a booster converter so as to respectively adjust the working period of each driving signal and making each LED bunch emit light with expected brightness in a predetermined time period.
