Embodiment Construction

[0014] According to some preferred embodiments, a technique or mechanism is provided in which a downlink control structure is provided in a first carrier, wherein the downlink control structure indicates that control information for a mobile station is in a second on different carriers. The downlink control structure can identify the location of the control information on the second carrier, and the downlink control structure can also specify the size of the control information on the second carrier.

[0015] A plurality of different carriers, including first and second carriers. The carriers are aggregated to provide a greater overall bandwidth for wireless communications than is provided by any single carrier. The mobile station decodes control information on the second carrier, wherein the control information specifies resource allocation (and other control-related aspects) of the radio link for the mobile station.

Abstract

A mobile station receives a downlink control structure in a first carrier, where the downlink control structure indicates that control information for the mobile station is on a second, different carrier. The mobile station decodes the control information in the second carrier, where the control information specifies resource allocation of a wireless link for the mobile station. More specifically, according to some implementations, the control channel in the first carrier specifies the resource allocation for an extended control channel in the second carrier, where the extended control channel specifies the resource allocation for traffic data of a wireless link for the mobile station.

Description

Background technique [0001] Various wireless access technologies have been proposed or implemented to enable mobile stations to communicate with other mobile stations or with wired terminals coupled to wired networks. Examples of radio access technologies include the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) technologies defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP); and the technologies defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) CDMA2000 (Code Division Multiple Access 2000) technology. [0002] New standards have been proposed as part of the continuous evolution of wireless access technologies to increase spectral efficiency, improve services, reduce costs, and so on. One such new standard is the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard from 3GPP, which aims to enhance UMTS technology. The LTE standard is also referred to as the EUTRA (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access) standard. ...
