Abstract

The invention provides a method for preparing propionic acid from alcoholic distillers' grain waste water. The method is characterized in that an upflow type anaerobic sequencing batch reactor capable of forming a biomembrane on a filling material is adopted; through control of ecological environmental factors, the upflow type anaerobic sequencing batch reactor is started and run directionally; adesired metabolite propionic acid (of which concentration can reach 23.6 to 25.5% of influent chemical oxygen demand (COD) concentration) is produced from high-concentration organic matters in alcoholic distillers' grain waste water and is recovered; residual waste liquid is subjected to subsequent aerobic treatment; and waste water reaching a standard is discharged. The method has the advantagesthat the method utilizes synergistic effects of multiple strains to directionally produce propionic acid through mixing fermentation thus an acid production rate is fast and a yield is high; and the method can realize not only alcoholic distillers' grain waste water biological treatment but also production and recovery of an intermediate metabolite propionic acid without addition of equipment foracid production by fermentation, thus has obvious environmental and economic benefits.
