Embodiment Construction

[0051] First refer to figure 1 , shows an embodiment of a grow room of the present invention, the grow room housing the apparatus of the present invention. The growing room, indicated generally at 2 , is in the form of a greenhouse with a curved transparent roof 4 . as in figure 1 As shown in , an apparatus generally designated 6 is arranged in a greenhouse and has a closed track 8 extending in a generally serpentine fashion. Plant 10 is supported on the support assembly (in figure 1 not visible in ), these support assemblies are movable along rails 8 . The equipment is arranged such that substantially the entire interior of the greenhouse is filled with plant foliage, thereby maximizing the use of the grow room. An irrigation / feeding station 12 is arranged at one end 14 of the greenhouse together with a work station 16 by means of which workers can tend the plants growing in the greenhouse as they pass along the adjacent part of the track 8 .

Abstract

An apparatus (6) for the cultivation of plants (10) is provided, the apparatus (6) comprising a track assembly (7,8,9,10); a plurality of support assemblies (5,6) mounted to the track assembly (7,8,9,10) so as to be moveable therealong; each support assembly comprising a receptacle for one or more plants (10), wherein the receptacle is removable from the apparatus. A growing room (2), such as a glasshouse or the like, comprising such an apparatus (6) is also provided.
