The method comprises the following steps of: supplying a laser, a beam expanding lens, a beam shrinking lens, an analyzer and a photoelectric sensing device which are arranged along a light path sequentially; rotating the analyzer to a reference angle indicating value theta1, wherein a reading of the photoelectric sensing device is P1; putting a polarizer between the laser and the beam expanding lens, and rotating the polarizer to make the reading of the photoelectric sensing device equal to a first minimum value P2; putting the magneto-optical isolator to be measured between the beam expanding lens and the beam shrinking lens, adjusting the magneto-optical isolator to make the reading of the photoelectric sensing device be maximum, and rotating the analyzer to make the reading of the photoelectric sensing device equal to a second minimum value Pmin; rotating the analyzer to make the reading of the photoelectric sensing device equal to a maximum value Pmax; and substituting the Pmax and the Pmin into the formula Ex=Pmax / Pmin, and calculating the extinction ratio Ex of the measured device.
