The present invention provides techniques involving implementing a raw pixel processing unit (900) with a set of line buffers. According to an embodiment, the set of line buffers may include a first subset (1162) and a second subset (1164). Various logic units of the raw pixel processing unit (900) may be implemented using the first subset and the second subset of line buffers (1162, 1164) in a shared manner. For example, the defective pixel correction and detection unit (932) can be implemented using the first subset of line buffers (1162). The second subset of line buffers (1164) may be used to implement lens shading correction logic (936), gain, offset, and clamp logic (938), and demosaic logic (940).
