Abstract

The invention discloses a combine harvester (10), which includes a fan device (26) for generating an air flow through a cleaning device (24) to separate chaff from grains. The fan assembly includes a plurality of fan assemblies (35) for generating spaced apart air sub-flows. The cleaning device includes an auxiliary air inlet between two adjacent air sub-flows and means (52) for narrowing the passage of each air sub-flow in the vicinity of the auxiliary air inlet (50). The narrowed device creates a lower pressure area (L) due to the venturi effect. This lower pressure area draws air into the air flow directly from the external environment through the auxiliary air inlet, thereby reducing the lateral component of the sub-air flow and providing a more uniform air flow through the cleaning device.
