Abstract

The invention discloses a congestion control method and a congestion control method system for machine type communication (MTC) equipment to avoid network congestion which is possibly caused by a great amount of MTC equipment. The method comprises the steps that an overload control signal is transmitted to a base station when a mobility management entity (MME) is overloaded; and after the base station receives the overload control signal, the requests of terminals for establishing wireless resource control (RRC) connection are refused according to the overload control signal. The system comprises a first device which is positioned at the MME and a second device which is positioned at the base station, wherein the first device is used for transmitting the overload control signal to the base station when the MME is overloaded; and the second device is used for refusing the requests of the terminals for establishing RRC connection according to the overload control signal after the overload control signal is received. By adopting the congestion control method and the congestion control method system for the MTC equipment, when a great amount of MTC equipment is required to be accessed to a network to receive service, the possible core network congestion caused by that the quantity of signals which are simultaneously initiated is too great can be avoided, and the efficiency and the quality of service provided by a core network to other terminals which are connected to the network are prevented from being influenced.
