Abstract
A method for smelting with a titanium sponge protection container is characterized in that 1), a layer of titanium sponge batching is paved on the inner surface of the container before smelting, so as to save as an isolating layer, wherein the layer of titanium sponge batching is 100 to 300 mm in thickness and is paved loosely; 2), the container is cooled with circulating water, and is not in direct contact with liquid metal; 3), the upper surface of the isolating layer is in contact with molten metal, the lower surface of the isolating layer is in contact with the container, the middle of the isolating layer is a semi-melted layer, and high-density inclusions in the liquid metal are accommodated in the clearance of the isolating layer; and 4), metal of the same mark is smelted again without replacing the isolating layer. The method has the benefit that the liquid metal and the container can be separated, so that the liquid metal can be prevented from being polluted by other materials, and the purity degree of thee liquid metal is ensured.
