The present invention relates to resonant power converters and inverters comprising a self-oscillating feedback loop coupled from a switch output to a control input of a switching network comprising one or more semiconductor switches (S₁, S₂). The self-oscillating feedback loop sets a switching frequency of the power converter (100) and comprises a first intrinsic switch capacitance (C_GD) coupled between a switch output and a control input of the switching network and a first inductor (L_G). The first inductor (L_G) is coupled in-between a first bias voltage source and the control input of the switching network and has a substantially fixed inductance. The first bias voltage source is configured to generate an adjustable bias voltage (V_Bias) applied to the first inductor (L_G). The output voltage (V0UT) of the power converter (100) is controlled in a flexible and rapid manner by controlling the adjustable bias voltage (V_Bias).

A method and apparatus for adjusting force output from force feedback devices based on user contact with the device. A degree of user contact with a manipulandum of the device is determined by examining the motion of the manipulandum in at least one degree of freedom. A force is output in the degree of freedom of the manipulandum by an actuator of the force feedback device, where a magnitude of the force is adjusted in accordance with the degree of user contact. The force output can be stopped if the user is not contacting the manipulandum, or the forces can be reduced in magnitude if the user has a light contact or reduced grip on the manipulandum. The device can also continue to monitor manipulandum motion to determine when the user is again interacting with the manipulandum and to reapply or increase the magnitude of the forces.

The supplemental material may comprise ammonia, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, or urea.
