The method includes that a plurality of absolute steel strip rulers with the identification code channel are fixed on a locating face of a machine tool sequentially, coding adopts a method of combining an absolute code, an incremental code and an identification code, a reading body is used for switching and combining scales of the plurality of steel strip rulers so as to solve the measuring problem of super length, and absolute coding difficulty is greatly reduced. Process difficulty of a splicing process of the steel strip ruler is reduced.
