Abstract

The method involves providing a turboset having a steam turbine and a generator. The turbine is driven by fresh steam and generator power is discharged to a power receiver. The generator is decoupled from the receiver. The fresh steam supply to the turbine is reduced. The generator is switched into a partial short circuit mode, where an exciter winding of the generator is supplied with electrical excitation current by an exciter to act the generator as a load on the turbine. The current is dimensioned such that lost heat of the generator caused by the current does not damage the generator.
