Embodiment Construction

[0020] The embodiments set forth below present the necessary information to enable those skilled in the art to practice the present disclosure and show the best mode of carrying out the present disclosure. Upon reading the following description in light of the accompanying drawing figures, those skilled in the art will understand the concepts of the disclosure and will recognize applications of these concepts not particularly addressed herein. It should be understood that these concepts and applications are within the scope of the disclosure and the appended claims.

[0021] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to circuitry, including data memory and processing circuitry. A data memory is used to store look-up table (LUT) based radio frequency (RF) power amplifier (PA) calibration data. Processing circuitry converts at least a portion of the LUT-based RFPA calibration data to provide data based on a monotonic response curve. As such, the magnitude of the envelope pow...

Abstract

The present invention relates to monotonic transformation of RF power amplifier calibration data. A circuit is disclosed that includes data memory and processing circuitry. The data memory is used to store look-up table (LUT) based radio frequency (RF) power amplifier (PA) calibration data. Processing circuitry converts at least a portion of the LUT-based RF PA calibration data to provide data based on a monotonic response curve. As such, the magnitude of the envelope power supply control signal is determined based on the magnitude of the RF input signal using data based on the monotonic response curve.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims the benefit of US Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 565,138, filed November 30, 2011, which disclosure is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a calibration system and method for calibrating a radio frequency (RF) power amplifier (PA), which may be used in an RF communication system. Background technique [0004] As RF communication protocols evolve, data rates tend to increase, which tends to increase the bandwidth of transmitted RF signals to support higher data rates. However, compared to the increased bandwidth of the transmitted RF signal, the double king frequency separation between the transmitted and received RF signal can be relatively small, thus imposing severe noise constraints on the RF communication system. Additionally, RF transmitters need to be as efficient as possible to maximize battery life. Therefore, th...
