Abstract

The method involves measuring a thickness (d) of a rolling stock using a radiation measuring system (8) in a contactless manner. The radiation measuring system is integrated in a rolling mill. A reference measured value (R) of the thickness is measured by an ultrasonic measuring head (24) which is integrated in the rolling mill. The reference measured value is used for eliminating error effects on a base measurement (G). An independent claim is included for an apparatus for determining a thickness of a rolling stock, particularly a rolled strip or a metal plate.
