Abstract

The method includes: an optical network unit is standby after being connected to an optical line terminal and successfully registering; when the optical line terminal sends a transmitting system startup command to the optical network unit, the optical network unit returns information of the transmitting system startup command back to the optical line terminal. The optical network unit shuts down a transmitting system of the optical network unit when in a standby mode, a receiving system of the optical network unit is in a listening mode, awaiting commands from the optical line terminal; only after the optical line terminal sends out the transmitting system startup command, the optical network unit starts up the transmitting system and returns corresponding information according to command requirements; in case of non-critical events, the optical network never actively starts up the transmitting system.
