Abstract

The invention relates to an automatic brake system used for vehicles travelling on a road. The automatic brake system comprises a brake mechanism, a camera module and a processor. A vehicle is braked through the brake mechanism. A front barrier of the vehicle is shot by the camera module so that an image can be obtained. The image comprises a locating point and a datum line. The processor is electrically connected with the camera module and used for receiving the image and calculating the actual distance between the locating point and the datum line. A caution value is stored inside the processor and is a preset safe distance between the locating point and the datum line. The actual distance and the caution value are compared by the processor so that whether the current distance between the vehicle and the front barrier is safe or not can be judged. When the processor judges that the current distance between the vehicle and the front barrier is not safe, an order is sent to the brake mechanism so that the vehicle can be braked. Thus, the automatic brake system is not prone to external electromagnetic wave interference and high in flexibility.
