Abstract

Mode conversion is a key technology of a mode division multiplexing optical fiber communication system, and a conversion method between two arbitrary modes is under study at present. The invention provides a method for achieving conversion among arbitrary modes. The method includes firstly, analyzing mode field distribution characteristics of a mode to be converted and a target mode from a space domain, a spatial frequency domain and a conversion plane space domain, then theoretically establishing a transfer function model of the conversion among the arbitrary modes based on spatial frequency spectrum filtering, and finally using a phase position type space light modulator to build a mode conversion optics system.
