Abstract

An ion inlet is formed in an inlet of the insulating elbow. An ion outlet is formed in an outlet of the insulating elbow. The air pressure in the insulating elbow is kept below a set air pressure threshold value, wherein the set air pressure threshold value does not exceed the standard atmospheric pressure. From the inlet to the outlet of the insulating elbow, voltage exerted on the electrodes is changed monotonously.
