Embodiment Construction

[0025] figure 1 A cross section through a superconducting cable SK is shown schematically, which has a tubular central carrier 1 . Parts of the cable SK surround the carrier 1 , the innermost layer of the cable resting on the carrier 1 . The structure of the cable SK can vary in a defined manner in its width. To be a cable with a hot dielectric it must be only a superconducting conductor, and to be a cable with a cold dielectric it must have a superconducting conductor and an insulation (dielectric) surrounding the superconductor. Therefore, the structure of the cable will not be discussed in more detail.

[0026] The carrier 1 consists of metal, for example steel or copper. Arranged within the support body 1 are tensile cables 2 , which consist, for example, of steel or tensile plastic. It is also possible to arrange two or more tension-resistant cables 2 within the support body 1 . In the following description, only the case with one tension-resistant rope 2 is concerne...

Abstract

The method is provided for manufacturing a superconductive cable (SK) equipped with means for compensating length changes caused by temperature changes which occur when the cable is cooled from room temperature to work temperature and vice-versa. A superconductive cable (SK) with a tubular, central carrier (1) is used which is surrounded by at least one superconductive conductor. Arranged in the carrier (1) is at least one tension-proof strand (2) arranged over the entire length of the carrier (1). Cable (SK) is initially wound, including strand (2), at room temperature onto a coil (SP). Subsequently, the strand (2) is immovably fastened to the two ends of the cable (SK) and the cable (SK) is subsequently wound off the coil (SP).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a superconducting cable equipped with means for compensating for changes in length caused by temperature conditions which occur during cooling of the cable from normal temperature to operating temperature and vice versa, wherein, A superconducting cable is used which has a tubular central support body which is at least surrounded by a superconducting conductor and in which at least one tensile cable is arranged over the entire length of the support body. Background technique [0002] Such a cable is eg based on US2010 / 0285968A1. [0003] A superconducting cable has an electrical conductor composed of a material that transforms into a superconducting state at sufficiently low temperatures. In the case of sufficient cooling, as long as the specified current intensity and critical current intensity are not exceeded, the electric DC resistance of this correspondingly constructed conductor is zero...
