Embodiment Construction

[0023] The Global Positioning System ("GPS") and other similar Satellite Positioning Systems (SPS) enable navigation services for mobile handsets in outdoor environments. A Global Navigation Satellite System (“GNSS”) (e.g., GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, etc.) may enable a terrestrial navigation receiver to process one or more SPS signals to obtain pseudorange measurements from the navigation receiver to the transmitter. Using pseudorange measurements from a sufficient number of transmitters and knowledge of the transmitter's location, a navigation receiver can estimate its position. SPS signals can be encoded with repeating sequence codes. In one embodiment, the receiver may attempt to determine a pseudorange measurement from the obtained SPS signal based at least in part on a detected code phase associated with the obtained SPS signal using well-known techniques.

[0024] While a mobile device's position estimate, or "location," obtained by processing SPS signals is usually very a...

Abstract

Examples disclosed herein relate to methods and apparatuses for observing signals transmitted by one or more transmitters in an asynchronous communication network and applying a time reference to generate a clock model. In one embodiment, parameters representing the clock model may then be forwarded to other mobile devices to assist in positioning operations.

Description

[0001] Related applications [0002] This is a PCT application claiming priority to U.S. 13 / 418,068, filed March 12, 2012, entitled "Determining Clock Models," which is incorporated by reference in its entirety In this article. technical field [0003] The topics revealed in this article relate to determining and applying fine-grained timing parameters of clock models. Background technique [0004] Wireless location determination systems may be used to determine the location of the device. The device may be a mobile or portable device that operates on battery power. A mobile handset can obtain a position fix by processing signals received from terrestrial transmitters fixed at known locations using any of several techniques, such as, for example, Advanced Forward Triangulation (“AFLT ”) and / or Observed Time Difference of Arrival (“OTDOA”). In these particular techniques, the mobile device receiver distance can be measured based at least in part on pilot signals transmit...
