Abstract

The technique provided by the present invention is used to generate amplitude modulation to phase modulation predistortion data for a power amplifier in a communication device. A test signal is sent to the power amplifier for amplification. Through waveform superposition, the amplified test signal and a reference oscillating signal are combined into a combined signal. The combined signal is an interference result of the amplified test signal and the reference oscillating signal. The envelope of the combined signal is measured to represent the power of the combined signal. According to the measurement result, a pre-distortion phase offset is determined. The predistortion phase offset maximizes the interference result when applied to the test signal. Then, AM-to-PM predistortion data corresponding to the predistortion phase offset is generated.
