Abstract

The invention discloses a two-way extrusion type thick slab directional solidification method and a device thereof. The method includes the steps that extrusion heads are arranged at the two ends of a directional casting mold, and cooling water is injected into the extrusion heads for cooling; the solidification coefficient beta of a water cooling device is calculated; the flow and the flow speed of the cooling water in the water cooling device are determined; the extrusion heads apply pressure inwards to extrude a steel ingot inwards; the pressing start time is determined; the pressing quantity is calculated; the pressing speed is calculated; and production operation is conducted. The device comprises the directional casting mold, a pouring gate, carbon heating units, a slag trap, a sprue, a slag and steel discharge opening, a linkage rod, a hydraulic system, a computer, the water cooling extrusion heads, water inlets and water outlets. Column crystal structures which vertically and reversely grow are added through a two-way horizontal directional solidification process, extra-thick slabs with super-long columnar crystals are produced, and the thickness of the extra-thick slabs is remarkably increased; and center solute enriched molten steel is eliminated through extrusion and center porosity shrinkage cavities are effectively pressed, and production can be flexibly and effectively conducted.
