[0020] The present disclosure generally relates to counterattack UAV systems and related methods. A typical counter-attack UAV system according to certain embodiments includes an interceptor UAV, which is launched toward the detected target UAV. For example, the target UAV is detected by a land-based detector, which will trigger the interceptor UAV launch sequence. Then, the interceptor UAV flies autonomously to intercept the target UAV. During at least one stage of operation, the interceptor UAV can receive signals from the ground to help direct the interceptor UAV toward the target. During another phase of operation, the interceptor UAV can operate without such assistance, for example, when it engages a target UAV. Abstract

Systems and methods for countering drones are disclosed. Typical methods include directing the interceptor UAV toward the target UAV, and directing the interceptor UAV back to the ground along a controlled flight path, eg, in response to an instruction not to engage the target UAV and / or in response to an unsuccessful engagement. Another typical method involves disabling a target UAV by deploying a disabling element (eg, a net) from the interceptor UAV to contact the target UAV. Typical systems include target acquisition systems, launch control systems, and engagement systems carried by interceptor UAVs. In particular embodiments, an interceptor UAV may have a substantially cylindrical fuselage, one or more stabilizers carried by the fuselage, counter-rotating propellers carried by the fuselage, and a disabling system configured to disable the target UAV.
