Abstract

The present invention provides an urban road intersection channelization method, specifically relates to a windmill type intersection design method. The method provided by the invention comprises: (1) acquiring intersection information; (2) determining whether the intersection is suitable for adoption of a windmill type signal control intersection; (3) performing the design of a left-turn diverging area; (4) performing a design of a left-turn waiting area; (5) performing a design of a left-turn guidance lane; (6) performing a design of a pedestrian crossing zebra crossing and a going-straight vehicle stop line; (7) performing a design of inducting signals of a left-turn vehicle entering the left-turn waiting area. Through adoption of a novel channelization scheme and a left-turn vehicle induction control of a windmill type intersection, the intersection conflict between the left-turn vehicle and a going-straight vehicle in an opposite direction is converted to the confluence interlacing of the left-turn vehicle and the going-straight vehicle at a side direction, and therefore the average delay of vehicles is reduced, the passage efficiency of the intersection is enhanced, the traffic conflict is decreased, and the safety of the intersection is improved.
