A system for assembling vehicle components includes a mold assembly securing first and second vehicle components having first and second apertures, respectively. The mold assembly positions the first vehicle component and the second vehicle component such that the first aperture and the second aperture overlap, and at least one of the first vehicle component and the second vehicle component includes a polymeric material. The system further includes a connection member extending through the first orifice and the second orifice. The mold assembly supports the connection part, and the connection part includes a support shank and a formable body at least partially surrounding the support shank. The system also includes a punch member that selectively engages and deforms the formable body of the connecting component.
