Abstract

A lighting system comprising a string of light sources (L) connected in series between a first terminal (106) and a second terminal (GND), wherein at least one electrical contact of the string of light sources (L) is accessible. The system also includes a protection circuit (30) that protects the light source (L) from electrostatic discharge applied to the serviceable electrical contacts (302). Specifically, the protection circuit (30) comprises: - at least one TVS diode or group of anti-parallel diodes (D1, D2) connected to the second terminal (GND); and - a connection for each electrical contact (302) at Each capacitor (CESD1, CESD2, CESD3, and CESD4) between each electrical contact (302) and a TVS diode or set of anti-parallel diodes (D1, D2) such that an electrostatic event applied to the electrical contact (302) passes through each capacitor ( CESD1 , CESD2 , CESD3 and CESD4 ) and each set of TVS diodes or anti-parallel diodes ( D1 , D2 ) discharge towards the second terminal (GND).

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to lighting systems. [0002] The present disclosure was developed with particular attention to protecting the lighting system from electrostatic discharge (ESD). Background technique [0003] An electronic converter of the light source comprising (eg, at least one light emitting diode (LED) or other solid state lighting device such as, for example, a laser diode) may provide DC current at the output. [0004] figure 1 A possible lighting system comprising an electronic converter 10 and at least one lighting module 20 is shown. For example, figure 1 Shown are two lighting modules 20a and 20b connected in parallel. [0005] Generally, each lighting module 20 can be combined with the electronic converter 10 in an integrated lighting system or can be connected to the electronic converter 10 through a cable. [0006] The electronic converter 10 generally includes a control circuit 102 and a power circuit 12 (e.g., an AC / ...
