Embodiment Construction

[0052] figure 1 and figure 2 A container ship 1, ie a ship suitable for loading and transporting large quantities of shipping containers, is shown in side and stern views respectively.

[0053] The container ship 1 comprises a hull 2 extending across the entire length of the container ship 1 between a bulbous bow 7 and a stern 8 . The hull 2 houses one or more engine rooms, fuel tanks and other facilities required to operate the container ship 1 . The main part of the hull 2 is used for loading containers and through the cutaway Figure 11 A small section of the cargo compartment is shown. The container ship 1 is provided with one or more large internal combustion engines for propulsion or driving propellers 9, and will have one or more auxiliary engines (gensets) which provide the various consumers of electricity and heat on board the container ship 1 electricity and heat. One or more rudders 10 provide directional control of the container ship 1 .

Abstract

The invention provides a hull of a container vessel. The hull includes a cargo hold for holding non-freezing combined transport containers and freezing combined transport containers. Each freezing container is provided with a freezing unit at the longitudinal end thereof. The hull is provided with a plurality of transverse bulkheads which longitudinally divides the cargo hold into a plurality of container compartments. Beams are associated with all the transverse bulkheads and each beam crosses the whole width of the hull and is connected to side surfaces of the hull at upper edges or nearby positions of the hull. The width of the container compartments is divided into a plurality of container lines, and a separation distance P among the container lines slightly exceeds the width of a single combined transport container. Each beam includes a hollow rectangular section having four side surfaces, at least one of the four side surfaces of at least one container compartment facing the beam is provided with a line of maintenance openings, adjacent maintenance openings of the line of maintenance openings are spaced in the separation distance P, and the shape and the size of the maintenance openings are designed to allow freezing combined transport containers facing the maintenance openings to enter and be maintained through the relevant maintenance openings.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a container ship, ie a marine vessel configured for storing and transporting shipping containers. In particular, the present disclosure relates to container ships with increased capacity for loading high strength refrigerated containers (refrigerators). Background technique [0002] A container ship is a seagoing vessel (cargo ship) designed and constructed to store and transport shipping containers (intermodal). Typically, container ships carry their full loads in truck-sized intermodal containers. Container ships are the usual means of commercial intermodal cargo transportation and now carry the majority of non-bulk cargo transported by sea. Container ship capacity is measured in 20-foot equivalent units (TEU). Typical loads are a mix of 20-foot and 40-foot (2-TEU) ISO standard containers, with the latter predominating. Modern container ships can have a capacity greater than 20.000TEU. [0003] Transport contain...
