Problems solved by technology

[0004] The generation of high-frequency millimeter waves in the ROF system is a very critical issue. It is difficult or even almost impossible to complete the generation of very complex extremely high-frequency millimeter-wave signals with traditional electrical domain methods, mainly because crystal oscillators are generally used in the electrical domain. High-frequency millimeter-wave signals are generated by frequency multiplication and phase-locking. Due to the speed bottleneck of electronic devices and limitations of technology, it is difficult to generate high-frequency, high-quality signals.
In addition, using the electrical domain method to generate high-frequency millimeter-wave signals has very high requirements on the device, and the complex manufacturing process may greatly reduce the performance of the device

Abstract

The invention discloses a frequency octupling millimeter wave generation device through cascading of an intensity modulator (IM) and a DPMZM modulator and a frequency octupling millimeter wave generation method thereof, relates to the technical field of microwaves and the technical field of optical communication, and is mainly applied to generation of high-frequency millimeter waves. The method is shown in the appended drawings. The device comprises a light source, a radio frequency signal source, the IM modulator, a polarization controller, the DPMZM modulator, an electric splitter and a photoelectric detector. The IM modulator and the sub-modulator MZM-a of the DPMZM modulator work at the maximum point. The master modulator MZM-c of the DPMZM modulator works at the minimum point. The DC bias of the sub-modulator MZM-b of the DPMZM modulator is reasonably set so that frequency octupling millimeter wave signals can be generated. According to the method, the radio frequency index required for generating high frequency / extremely high frequency signals can be greatly reduced so that system cost can be reduced. Meanwhile, use of a filter is avoided so that the method has great frequency regulation. Finally the generated signals are low in phase noise and high in spectrum purity.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the field of optical communication technology and microwave technology field, in particular to a method for generating octave-frequency millimeter-wave signals based on the relatively mature external modulation technology in optical communication technology. Background technique [0002] With the continuous advancement of science and technology, especially the rapid update of information technology, the generation technology of high-quality microwave signals with high spectral purity, high radio frequency stability, and low phase noise has become the key to microwave applications. High-quality microwave signals are widely used in many fields, such as radar systems, wireless communication systems, and electronic countermeasure systems. However, for traditional electronic technologies, the generation of millimeter-wave signals faces a bandwidth bottleneck, and transmission of millimeter-wave signals in coaxial cables or i...
