A material storage area comprises a plurality of specified material classification devices; an automatic material storage and retrieval device comprises an identification unit for judging material classification and a conveying mechanism for storing materials into specified material classification spaces or taking the materials out of the specified material classification spaces. When a material needs to be stored, the identification unit reads classification information on the material, and stores the material into a material classification bin; when the material needs to be retrieved, the identification unit scans classification information, and the material is taken out and conveyed to a material-using end.
