Abstract

The present disclosure relates to intravascular devices, systems and methods including a core wire having a plurality of flattened segments. In one aspect, a sensing guidewire (100) is provided. The sensing guidewire comprises: a first flexible elongate member (102); a sensing element (108) positioned at a distal end portion of the first flexible elongate member; and a second flexible elongate member (350) coupled to the first flexible elongate member such that the second flexible elongate member extends distally from the first flexible elongate member; and wherein the first flexible elongate member The distal end portion of the member includes at least two flat segments (304, 306), and wherein the first flexible elongate member and the second flexible elongate member are along the length of one of the at least two flat segments partly coupled. In other aspects, methods of forming a sensing guidewire are provided.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to intravascular devices, systems and methods. In some embodiments, the intravascular device is a guide wire comprising a core wire having at least two distal end flats to which a shaping band or another core wire is attached flat part. Background technique [0002] Heart disease is very serious and often requires emergency procedures to save lives. A major cause of heart disease is the buildup of plaque within blood vessels, which eventually blocks blood vessels. Common treatment options that can be used to open blocked blood vessels include balloon angioplasty, rotational atherectomy, and endovascular stenting. Traditionally, physicians have relied on X-ray fluoroscopy images, which are planar images showing the internal shape of the lumen of a blood vessel, to guide treatment. Unfortunately, with X-ray fluorescence images, there is a great deal of uncertainty about the exact extent and orientation of the stenosis c...
