Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a multi-plate friction clutch with central lubricant supply and lubricant drain capabilities. The clutch device of the present disclosure may include a differential and first and second conduits. The differential may transmit differential power to the first output and the second output. A clutch plate is rotatable through the clutch chamber and transmits power between the second and third outputs. An outer carrier and an inner carrier may be coupled for rotation with the second output and the third output, respectively. The first conduit may open to a first perimeter region of the clutch chamber and fluidly couple the first region to a chamber separate from the clutch chamber. The second conduit may open into a second perimeter region circumferentially spaced from the first region. The second conduit may fluidly couple the second region to a central region of the clutch cavity. Rotation of the outer carrier in opposite rotational directions throws lubricant to the first and second conduits, respectively.
