The cleaning control method comprises the following steps: in a cooling mode, controlling an indoor fan of the air conditioner to run at a first preset rotation speed so as to generate condensed water on the surface of an indoor heat exchanger; lowering the evaporation temperature of the indoor heat exchanger or the rotation speed of the indoor fan so as to form frost or ice on the surface of the indoor heat exchanger; at the completing moment of frost or ice formation, acquiring the current outdoor temperature; when the current outdoor temperature is higher than or equal to a first preset temperature, controlling the air conditioner to switch to an air supply mode so as to defrost the air conditioner; when the current outdoor temperature is lower than the first preset temperature, controlling the air conditioner to switch to a heating mode, and after switching to the heating mode, controlling the indoor fan to run at a second preset rotation speed so as to defrost the indoor heat exchanger. The invention further discloses a cleaning control device for the heat exchanger of the air conditioner.
