The invention relates to an ink supply system for a printer, and the system comprises a housing which is provided with a front wall, a top wall and a bottom wall; an ink outlet which is disposed at the lower part of the front wall; a first blocking part disposed at the upper part of the front wall; a second blocking part disposed at an outer side of the central part of the front wall; a transparent part which is located between the second blocking part and the front wall; a third blocking part which is disposed on the housing and is located at an inner side of the central part of the front wall; and a chip which is disposed on the external surface of the housing. The chip comprises a storage unit which stores ink residual information, and a communication part which communicates with a printer main board. The system is advantageous in that the system is simpler in structure, and is larger in ink capacity; and the housing is liable to be machined.
