Abstract

A variable timing system for a sewing machine is provided, the variable timing system comprising a shuttle having a hook point; a first helical gear mounted on the shuttle; a lower shaft configured to be synchronized with the vertical movement of a needle bar of the sewing machine and the second helical gear, which is mounted on the lower shaft and capable of meshing with the first helical gear. According to an embodiment, the second helical gear is axially movable. The variable timing system may include a control device configured to generate a control signal indicative of a current sewing state. The driving force mechanism can receive the control signal and in response, transmit the axial movement to the axially movable second helical gear to move the gear to a proper position relative to the threading needle of the sewing machine.
