The distributed network attached storage method comprises the steps that a proxy server receives mounting requests initiated by clients, wherein the proxy server is connected to a plurality of NAS (Network Attached Storage) virtual machines, the plurality of NAS virtual machines are connected with the clients, and the plurality of NAS virtual machines are connected with a back-end storage file system through routing equipment; the proxy server distributes the mounting requests of different clients to different NAS virtual machines, and the selected NAS virtual machine acts as a file system server to provide network file system services for the corresponding client. In the invention, a plurality of NAS virtual machines provide services for users simultaneously, and only part of service ports are externally exposed, so that the network security is ensured; and distributed processing is performed on mounting requests of the users, so that network resources can be sufficiently utilized, and read-write bandwidth requirements of the users are met to the maximum extent.
