Problems solved by technology

However, when a computing device experiences signal loss at the computing network, its connection to the server may be interrupted or terminated, thereby dropping the user from the conferencing session.
Re-establishing the connection between the computing device and the server to allow the user to rejoin the meeting session can be difficult and prone to security issues, such as impersonators using their computing device to join the meeting session and assume the identity of the disconnected user

Embodiment Construction

[0022] To avoid cellular data charges, users can connect their computing devices to a conference session by using a wireless computing network (eg, WiFi), which is generally much less expensive than cellular data via a cellular telephone network. Users may be disconnected from a meeting session when the wireless signal on their computing device is weak. In these cases, the user may then utilize their computing device to dial into the conferencing session via the cellular network. This reconnection may release the previous instance of the user from the conferencing session. However, as previously discussed, this reconnection process is vulnerable to compromise by impersonators, such as hackers who guess the dial-in phone number and then disconnect the user from the conference session. This is especially problematic for secure conferencing sessions, such as between a user and his / her bank. Additional pin numbers for the user can be implemented, but these can be time consuming ...

Abstract

A computer-implemented technique may include joining, by a computing device having one or more processors, a conferencing session hosted by a server via a wireless computing network. In response to joining the conferencing session, the computing device may receive a dial-in telephone number from the server via the wireless computing network for reconnecting to the conferencing session. The computing device may detect a trigger condition indicating a need to reconnect to the conferencing session via a cellular telephone network. In response to detecting the trigger condition, the computing device may initiate a telephone call to the dial-in telephone number via the cellular telephone network. In response to the server obtaining authentication of the computing device's caller identification, the computing device may rejoin the conference session via the cellular telephone network.
