The invention discloses a part point cloud segmentation method based on geometry essential factors; the method comprises the following main steps: building a part model in an IGES format, and buildingpart point cloud; registering the part model and the part point cloud; selecting one point xi in the part point cloud, and calculating the distance from the point xi to each surface essential factorin the part model; storing the surface essential factor corresponding to each distance into a stack according to the distances in an ascending order; finding the projection point xil ' of the point xion the stack top surface essential factor, and determining the relation between the projection point xi ' and the stack top surface essential factor boundary; repeating said steps until all points inthe part point cloud are traversed; segmenting points corresponding to the same surface essential factor into the same point set according to corresponding built relations, wherein each point set forms one segmentation point cloud.
