Abstract

A computer appliance includes a front-end interface communicating with a client computer, a back-end interface communicating with a storage, a compressor receiving native next generation sequencing (NGS) data from an application running on the client computer via the front-end interface, the application being programmed to process native NGS data, adding a compressed form of the native NGS data into a portion of an encoded data file or data object, and storing the portion of the encoded data file or data object in the storage via the back-end interface, and a decompressor receiving a portion of an encoded data file or data object from the storage via the back-end interface, decompressing the portion of the encoded data file or data object to generate therefrom native NGS data, and transmitting the native NGS data to the client via the front-end interface, for use by the application running on the client.

Description

[0001] Priority Citation to Provisional Application [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 164,611, filed May 21, 2015, by Shai Lubliner, Arie Keshet, and Eran Segal, entitled "COMPRESSION OF GENOMICS FILES" by The content of this application is hereby incorporated in its entirety. [0003] This application also claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 164,651, entitled "STORAGE OF COMPRESSED GENOMICS FILES," filed May 21, 2015, by inventors Danny Sade and Arie Keshet , the content of this application is hereby incorporated in its entirety. technical field [0004] The present invention relates to efficient storage and transmission of next generation sequencing data. Background technique [0005] Over the past decade, tremendous advances in technology and next generation sequencing The adoption of (NGS) has brought down the cost of sequencing rapidly to the point that the price of high-coverage sequencing of the whol...
