Abstract

A pipe processing apparatus (20) comprising: a frame (28); a tool support (48) mounted on a tool carrier (32), wherein the tool carrier (32) is mounted on the frame (28); and a gear drive An arrangement (40) for rotating the frame (28); and a motor for rotating the geared arrangement (40). The gearing arrangement (40) comprises: a toothed pinion (132); a toothed backlash adjustment gear (134) movable relative to the pinion (132) and capable of being moved relative to the pinion by a locking assembly (136) fixed in place; and a toothed bull gear (56), attached to the tool carrier (32). The teeth of the bull gear (56) are engageable with the teeth of the pinion gear (132) and with the teeth of the backlash adjustment gear (134) to minimize backlash.
