Abstract

The embodiment of the invention provides an electrowetting display panel and a driving method thereof and relates to the technical field of display, aiming at realizing multi-gray-scale display. According to the electrowetting display panel, each sub-pixel region is provided with an electrowetting box unit; each electrowetting box unit comprises a first substrate and a second substrate which are arranged oppositely, and a light emitting plate which is located between the first substrate and the second substrate and emits light toward the second substrate; a first space is formed between the light emitting plate and the first substrate and a second space is formed between the light emitting plate and the second substrate; the light emitting plate is provided with at least two through holeswhich are formed nearby edges of two opposite sides of each electrowetting box unit; under illumination, the first space and the second space are filled with hydrophilic fluid which is colorful and lightproof lyophobic fluid; the hydrophilic fluid and the lyophobic fluid are not dissolved with each other; a lyophobic layer is arranged on at least one surface of the upper surface and the lower surface of the first space; each electrowetting box unit further comprises a conducting structure for forming an electric field and the electric field formed by the conducting structure is acted on the lyophobic layer; the second substrate is transparent.
