Abstract

The invention relates to a network camera power saving method. The method comprises the steps of: when a network camera sends a discover message in a broadcasting mode to a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server, detecting a type of the DHCP server; detecting a state of the network camera; and when the network camera is in a dormant state, according to the type of the DHCP server, configuring a power saving mode of the network camera. The invention further provides a network camera power saving system. According to the invention, an unnecessary trigger behavior of a request packet for the network camera can be avoided when the network camera is in the dormant state, so that electricity loss of the network camera is effectively reduced.
