The method comprises the following steps: using a monitoring terminal to receive the pollutant concentration data, the position coordinate data and the wind speed data, which are transmitted by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), of all collection points; enabling monitoring terminal to sequentially compare the pollutant concentration values of all the collection points with a preset standard value, and screening out allthe collection points with the pollutant concentration values greater than the preset standard value; using the monitoring terminal to sequentially obtain the prediction data of all the screened-outcollection points according to the position coordinate data and wind speed data of all the collection points as well as a preset rule; enabling the monitoring terminal to screen out the prediction data, most likely to be a pollution source, from all the prediction data by using a genetic algorithm, and marking the position coordinates corresponding to the prediction data as the position of the pollution source. The method and the device utilize the UAV to obtain data of the pollution source so as to find out the source of environmental pollution, thus fundamentally finding and solving the problem of water pollution control by using technical means.
