Abstract

The invention provides a stereo image quality assessment method and device. The method comprises the following steps of: obtaining a to-be-assessed distorted stereo image pair and a reference stereo image pair; dividing the distorted stereo image pair and the reference stereo image pair into different non-superposed image blocks so as to obtain a plurality of distorted image block pairs and reference image block pairs; for each distorted image block pair, determining a similarity between a distorted left view image block and a corresponding reference left view image block and a similarity between a distorted right image block and a corresponding reference right view image block, and respectively determining competitive advantage representation indexes corresponding to the distorted left view image block and the distorted right view image block; determining quality assessment indexes of the distorted image blocks through the similarities and the competitive advantage representation indexes; determining a quality assessment index of the distorted stereo image pair through the quality assessment indexes of all the distorted image block pairs, wherein the quality assessment index is capable of representing the quality of the distorted stereo image pair.
