Two completelyidentical pilot operated check valves and two completely identical pressure transmission devices are connected to the gate blowout preventer body. The pilot operated check valves utilize the one-way flow limiting function to be communicated with oil paths of the opening mouth and the closing mouth to achieve opening and closing of a gate of the gate blowout preventer and automatic keeping of the closed position of the gate blowout preventer. The pressure transmission devices transfer annulus pressure of a shaft to a gate closing chamber of the gate blowout preventer to achieve automatic keeping of the closing position of the gate blowout preventer. The invention also includes a blowout preventing method of the blowout preventer. The gate blowout preventer can automatically keep the gate atthe well mount in the closed position in case of hydraulic pressure loss when the blowout preventer is closed, prevent the blowout, does not require human intervention, and has good popularization value.
