The online inertia recognition method is applied to load inertia whena motor runs under a load and includes: superimposing self-sustained oscillation into closed-loop output of a speed loop by adding a nonlinear link; detecting angle frequency and amplitude of self-sustained oscillation; acquiring to-be-recognized load inertia according to the angle frequency and the amplitude of self-sustained oscillation. By adding an ideal relay link into closed-loop output ofthe speed loop, online recognition of inertia can be realized almost without impact on running of the speed loop (superimposed with small-amplitude oscillation); the method is small in operand and suitable for embedded software realization; the method can be utilized to immediately recognize load inertia in occasions where the load inertia changes gradually, and the load inertia can be taken as acontrol basis to improve speed response performance and stability.
